Cardinal is a moving image and audio installation based on the anacdote Cardinal: my first caged bird, W. H. Hudson, Adventures Among Birds (J.M. Dent & Sons., 1924).
Cardinal, narrated by Nigel Rothfels www.uwm.edu~rothfels, David John Hathaway Rothfels and Jeff Motschman, recounts Hudson's childhood memory of owning, and losing, his first caged bird. Cardinal was produced in conjunction with a collaborative project between Helen Bullard and Professor Nicola S. Clayton www.psychol.cam.ac.uk/pages/staffweb/clayton/, FRS, Professor of Comparative Cognition, Dept. of Experimental Psychology, Cambridge Univerity, where the artist is currently Artistic Research Associate in Residence. Cardinal was first shown at Cambridge Science Festival, 2011.
